How to build your children’s playhouse

Kids are a big fan of playhouses and building one in your own home will not only make your children happy, but it will also surely form part of your home’s interior design. To keep your kids happy without rushing to the nearest kid playhouse in your area, let us build one for them.
In building your kid’s playhouse, all that you will need are the following:
•    Plywood
•    2 x 4 boards
•    drywall
•    Hammer
•    Nails
•    Power circular saw
•    Paint
•    Paint brush
•    Sandpaper
The first thing that you will do is to plan for your playhouse’s size. Plan for your playhouse’s size according to your yard’s space. It is also advisable to plan for a formal sloping of the roof to keep water from staying on the roof.
After you have the right plan, you can now prepare the floor. You can have a choice of wood, dirt, or concrete floor. If you choose to have dirt flooring, you may need to have rotting wood later. On the other hand, if you choose to have wooden floor, a pressure treated lumber is the best one to use, while if you want to have a concrete flooring, digging about 1 ½ inches into the ground is needed.
Now that you already have the floor, time now to frame the walls. Using a 2×4-inch lumber for wall framing job is advisable for best results.
After you have the frames for your wall, you can now start cutting some plywood for your walls. One can use a circular saw to cut the sides, and while cutting the plywood, always keep in mind to have some openings for the door and windows.
After your have cut and screw the plywood, time now to finish the walls. Once can use drywall for the interior walls’ finishing. You can also tape and mud if desired.
The next important step that you will do is to install a door for your built playhouse. It is important to note that the door must be a simple hinged door for easy installment on the front part of the playhouse. You can cut a solid wood or another piece of wood or lumber for the door. If you bought a playhouse kits from your favorite store, they normally have a pre-cut door that fit on the space you leave for opening.
Now time for you to frame and cover the roof using a 2×4-inch lumber. You can use a plywood for the sheathing and have your playhouse treated with standard asphalt shingles to protect it from elements.
The final step, paint your playhouse with the color your kids choose. If you have a plywood exterior, it is advisable for your to prime the surface first before painting. A vinyl sliding on the exterior is also a good idea. Some playhouse kits come with a vinyl sliding already.
Finally, you can now let your kids play unlimited with their newly built playhouse without spending so much time traveling to your nearest mall or park.
